I received a call from the sawmill where I like to get my wood. He said he had a client who was wanting some work done. I said, let us meet them to discover what all he is wanting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long story short. The client wants to redo his home in white oak with walnut oil finish. I think this might work out great and be very interesting. The client likes to host dinner events and was looking to have some serving boards finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was given the serving boards to take and finish as a sample of the work. The only requirement of the client was use walnut oil to finish it. There were two (2) boards, one was walnut and less than an inch thick. The other was white oak and about 2 inches thick. These boards are small slabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided leaving the shape of the wood and the live edge look would be nice. I really didn’t think in, this instance, anything needed to be done to the boards. Some sanding and apply the finish. I started sanding, some people stopped by and asked what I was doing with the board. I explained what it was going to be and the idea I had. They thought it would be a good idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Order the walnut oil, start working on the boards, waiting for the delivery. Received the walnut oil, started working it into the boards. They just came alive. I like the natural look I was getting from the walnut oil. Even when it dried, the detail of the grain was outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, just to wait and let them dry. It only takes about 72 hours for them to cure. Not a problem. I had things to do while waiting. To really show off the boards, I decided to display them the way they are going to be used. As serving boards and fruit platters. I really hope the client enjoys these boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
